This was my company which I owned and ran until I left for Norway in 2012. After the financial crisis in Iceland, I took on a few projects and whole lot of IT teaching. For a while I even ran an online boutique using social media as way of marketing. Today the company is dormant in Iceland while I seek new adventures in Norway.

Efficient processes

The National Energy Authority hired me for a project that consisted of evaluation and adjustment of existing workflows and implementing new processes through the use of the GoPro Case Management system software and it's eQuality toolkit. The processes were conected to an application proccess, that was at that moment a manual paper drowning and time consuming process. The goal was to weave the proccess through the software, with sufficient stop points, data gathering and various acceptance stages with legal complications.

Courses for unemployed carpenters

Being unemployed can be a hardship. When the crisis hit Iceland all building seized and everyone held back on improvements. The industry had a rough time especially carpenters. Together with Idan - Vocational Education and Training Centre we built four week computer courses where the main theme was computers. Too many carpenters got left out of the computer revoloution, having a hamer in hand all day. The course was meant to give them confidence in working with the various MS Office programs as well as being able to effectivly use the computer for their own benefits. This was a complete success and I got to graduate numerous happy capable carpenters and other craftsmen.

Risk Management in the Energy Sector

This was a research project done in cooperation with engineer Helena Sigurðardóttir in 2009. A questionair was sent to all engery companies in Iceland with the goal to chart risk factors in daily operations within the companies. The conclusion was that most companies were in their early stages with regards to Risk Management. A few had come further on but many where completly lacking in management of risk and only a few had employees with education in the field. The report was an eye-opener for most and Helena has held a number of presentations about the conclusions. A summary in Icelandic can be found here.

Learn to use YOUR computer

I held these mini courses, where people could bring there computer and learn to use their software. At one time I had 5 diffrent versions of MS Word as well as Open Office, PC's and Mac's. Everyone learned to use their version and found out the difference between versions and types. An article about the courses apeared in the Icelandic newspaper Morgunblaðið and can be seen online here.

Bling, bling

It was always a dream of mine of owning a boutique, it started out small and wth a lot of hard work, sweat and tears, grew considerably. Clothes from English company Nomads, Yaya a new trendy company in the Nederlands and jewlery from USA. It was fun for a while, but now I have ticked that dream off my list.
